Nehora Press was started by Mark z"tl and Yedidah Cohen in 2003 when they first published their translations of Rabbi Yehudah Lev Ashlag’s Introductions to the Zohar and to the Study of the ten Sephirot as We decided at that time to self-publish because we felt that it was of vital necessity that only dedicated students of Rabbi Ashlag’s work should edit the material and this we could only guarantee by starting our own publishing company.
From a very small beginning her in Israel we were fortunate to attract the attention of a prestigious distribution company in Chicago, Independent Publishers Group and In the Shadow of the Ladder is available all over the States and through all major on-line retailers. However wee also offer the book for sale via our website because this gives us a contact with our customers we could not otherwise have had, and many fascinating email correspondences have ensued and friendships have sprung up in consequence..
Our goal is to maintain high-standards of authenticity in the publication of material of Rabbi Ashlag both in Hebrew and in English, and at the same time open up accessibility of the actual texts. This we do by maintaining a good standard of readability of the translations and by adding explanations where necessary.
We are always extremely careful to distinguish between the words of Rabbi Ashlag himself and our explanations so the authenticity and purity of Rabbi Ashlag’s original texts are maintained Mark passed on to the next world in December 2005 but Yedidah is carrying on Nehora Press helped by her four children.. She lives in Safed, a small town famous for being the ancient home of the Kabbalah, in the hills overlooking the Sea of Galilee.
She enjoys teaching the work of Rabbi Ashlag as well as writing, and leads study groups in her home. For the third year she has been invited to lead a young people’s Kabbalah study group at the Gifted Children’s College of Tel Hai (Kiryat Shmona) which she does with a great deal of pleasure. She also gives radio talks on Arutz 7 (Israel National Radio) and some of these may be downloaded from this website.
